FAMILY AND
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE — FUNDING
1359. Hon ALANNA CLOHESY to the
Minister for Child Protection:
I refer to the 2015–16 state budget and service
summary 5, which allocates $36.597 million to family and domestic violence
services.
(1) What is the breakdown of the funding?
(2) Page 31 of The Sunday Times of 22 November 2015
provided advice that the funding to address domestic violence had risen to $34 million.
What is the reason for the $2.5 million funding difference?
(3) Are any savings anticipated to be made within service
summary 5 in 2015–16?
(4) If yes to (3), what are the details and amounts of the
savings to be made?
(5) How many
crisis accommodation beds were purchased in 2014–15 due to a lack of
refuge accommodation, and how many are budgeted for in 2015–16?

I thank the member for some notice
of the question.
As the member would be aware, today
is White Ribbon Day, which is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence
against Women. The Department for Child Protection is holding ''STAND UP
on White Ribbon Day'', an event that aims to raise awareness and change
attitudes and behaviours that lead to men's violence against women. Due
to this event, a number of departmental staff are unavailable, and that has
impacted on the ability to respond to this question within the time frame
provided. I will provide the response tomorrow.
