The Minister for Environment has provided the following response.
(1)-(3) As part of the investigation into appeals against the Environmental
Protection Authority's report and recommendations on the proposed Mangles Bay Marina-Based Tourist Precinct, the Minister for Environment noted that Condition 8-1 of Report 1471 refers to 'seagrass communities', while the rest of Condition 8 and Schedule 1 refers to 'seagrass', where specifically Schedule 1 limits the 'Loss of seagrass of not more than 5.24 hectares'.
To provide consistency of terminology used and certainty regarding the allowable impact to seagrass, the Minister determined that Condition 8-1 is to be amended to refer to 'seagrass' and not 'seagrass communities'.
