857. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the Leader of the House representing
the Minister for Child Protection:
I refer to the Adoption Applications
Committee.
(1) On what date last year was the
committee's composition dissolved?
(2) Has the committee been
reconstituted?
(3) If yes to
(2), on what date did this occur, who are the current members and what is the
size of the current backlog in applications?
(4) If no to (2), why not, and on
what date will the committee be reconstituted?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) The term of the previous
Adoption Applications Committee expired on 31 December 2019.
(2)–(4) Cabinet
has noted the appointment of new members to the AAC by the director general of
Communities under section 12 of the Adoption
Act 1994. The appointment process is in its final stages and members will be
formally notified of their appointment shortly. There are 24 applications
awaiting review by the AAC.
