POLICE —
MULLALOO INCIDENT — ATTENDANCE
865. Hon KEN TRAVERS to the
Attorney General representing the Minister for Police:
I refer to an incident in Mullaloo in the early evening of
last Monday that required police attendance due to a drunk driver crashing into
a home and subsequently trying to break into a home.
(1) Can the minister confirm that
the police vehicle that attended the incident was sent from Beechboro?
(2) To what station is this vehicle normally attached?
(3) Why was a local police vehicle
not available to attend this incident?
(4) How long did it take for police
to attend the incident after the first call to 131 444?
(5) How long did
it take for police to attend the incident following the property owners
advising 000 that the driver was seeking to break into their home?

On behalf of the Minister for Police, I thank the honourable
member for some notice of the question.
(1) The
precise location of the attending police vehicle—TN244—when it
was informed of this incident cannot be confirmed in the short time frame.
That is presumably the short time frame provided by the
member by asking the question. The answer continues —
However,
it did arrive at the complainant's Connolly address within three
minutes from the time the task was dispatched. As a result, it can be assumed
it was close by. The time frame is: 8.22 pm, complaint received; 8.25 pm,
vehicle TN244 advised; 8.26 pm, dispatched on route; 8.29 pm, vehicle arrives
at scene.
Hon Ken Travers : Did you say Connolly? I said Mullaloo.
Hon MICHAEL MISCHIN : Yes; Connolly is the answer that I have
here. I shall seek some clarification of that and advise the member either
outside session or at the next occasion. The answer continues —
(2) Police vehicle TN244 is
allocated to traffic enforcement group 3, based in Warwick.
(3) Police
vehicle TN244 was dispatched to this task as the traffic officers were close by
and were most appropriately qualified to handle the reported incident.
(4) Police arrived at the scene
within four minutes of the initial telephone call to 131 444 being completed.
(5) The attending
vehicle—TN244—arrived on scene whilst the complainant called
back 000. Records indicate that at the time she was next door on her mobile. The
call was received at 8.30 pm.
