I refer to accessible (available for patient use) hospital beds in WA public hospitals on January 1 and July 1 in each of the following years: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and January 1 2025, and I ask: (a) By hospital, how many hospital beds were accessible in WA public hospitals; (b) By category (ie mental health, ED, surgical etc) how many hospital beds were accessible in WA public hospitals; (c) By hospital, were there any hospital beds which were included in the bed inventory at that date that were not accessible; and (d) By category, were there any hospital beds which were included in the bed inventory but were not accessible?

The Department of Health is not able to provide this data on the specific dates requested across the past eight years. A hospital bed available for patient use is a point in time measure which could change due to staffing levels, hospital demand, isolation requirements, maintenance works, or other reasons at any given hour. Due to the significant manual effort required to extract and validate this level of detail, as well as the inconsistent availability of historical data across hospitals and categories, this may result in inaccurate or misleading information of the current or past operational context.
However, since 2021 state election, the State Government has delivered the following beds to the system:
