FIREARMS —
MINISTERIAL WORKING GROUP
761. Hon RICK MAZZA to the minister representing the
Minister for Police:
I refer to the firearm reforms
ministerial working group. On 21 November 2019, as per the Hansard , in
response to my motion the Leader of the House said —
I advise the member that the
government is working on a bill to be ready in 2020 on the first tranche of the
work done by the working group, and members of the working group will be
consulted on the draft of that bill.
Nine months after that advice was
given, no consultation has been undertaken with the working group. What
progress has been made on the bill referred to in the statement made by the
Leader of the House?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following answer has been provided to me by
the Minister for Police.
The bill is being drafted, and once
a final draft is available, the working group will be consulted as soon as
possible.
