PERTH FREIGHT LINK — ROAD TRAINS
703. Ms S.F. McGURK to the Minister for Transport:
I have a supplementary question. How can the government
possibly claim that the Perth Freight Link will result in safer roads when cars
will be travelling alongside road trains like those in this picture? How can he
possibly claim that will result in safer roads?
The SPEAKER :
Member for Fremantle, take that picture board down, please. We have had a good
look at it.

I think I have just said they are not 53 metres long.
Mr C.J. Barnett : TheyXXX ### XXXre just using the
front page of the Post newspaper.
Mr D.C. NALDER : It
will be—misleading the community again.
If we can get those trucks off Leach Highway and South Street
and improve access to hospitals and universities, and if we can make it safer
on local community, suburban highways and roads, I think we are doing a great
thing. We will explore every avenue to make our roads a lot safer for the
people of Western Australia.
