I refer to a military exercise conducted by army units within closed areas of Lancelin Island nature reserve on Saturday, 1 May 2004. (1) Was this exercise authorised by the Executive Director of the Department of Conservation and Land Management pursuant to the provisions of the Wildlife Conservation Act 1950? (2) Have there been other army activities on nature reserves in the Lancelin area recently and were these authorised? (3) If these army activities were not authorised, what action has been taken, or will be taken, against the offending officers to protect these areas and to make sure that damaged areas are rehabilitated?
