My question refers to the Jervoise Bay project. (1) When will work be completed on the basic construction of the facility and when can fabricating companies locate on the site? (2) Has any major fabricating company made a firm commitment to be based at Jervoise Bay and, if so, which company? (3) Have any major infrastructure projects been identified that can provide Jervoise Bay with the impetus to become a profitable enterprise for the Government of Western Australia? (4) What has been the total cost of the project to the State and when is it likely to provide a return on investment to the State? Hon KEN TRAVERS

I thank the member for some notice of this question. I am advised that - (1) Construction of the Jervoise Bay southern harbour facility is scheduled for completion in March 2003. Elements will be available to fabrication companies from September 2002. (2) A number of inquiries from fabrication companies have been received but no firm commitment has been made to date. (3) Major infrastructure projects have been identified, but the facility is not reliant only on work being generated from major infrastructure projects. (4) The estimated total cost to the State of the Jervoise Bay southern harbour project is $47 million excluding GST.
