Minister for Corrective Services:
I refer to Albany Regional Prison
and Bunbury Regional Prison.
(1) What is the current allocated
FTE for each prison?
(2) What is the current actual FTE
for each prison?
(3) What is the maximum prisoner
capacity at each prison?
(4) What is the current actual
prisoner capacity at each prison?
(5) How much per year does it cost
for each inmate incarcerated in a maximum-security facility?
(6) For July
2024, what are the average times prisoners are locked in their cells on a daily
basis due to staffing deficits?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The Department of Justice advises as follows.
(1) For Albany Regional Prison, it
is 235. For Bunbury Regional Prison, it is 259.
(2) For Albany Regional Prison, it
is 200. For Bunbury Regional Prison, it is 231.3.
(3) For Albany Regional Prison, it
is 510. For Bunbury Regional Prison, it is 577.
(4) At Albany Regional Prison, it
is 459. At Bunbury Regional Prison, it is 519.
(5) It is $146 034.
(6) For the period 1 July to 31 July 2024, Albany
Regional Prison had an average out-of-cell hours of six hours and 40
minutes. Bunbury Regional Prison had an average out-of-cell hours of 11 hours,
19 minutes.
