(1) What was the total amount collected from boat registration fees in the following financial years -
(a) 1997/98;
(b) 1998/99; and
(c) 1999/00?
(2) Will the Minister advise how the money collected from boat registration fees has been expended on an item by item basis?
(3) What amount does the Government expect to collect from boat registration fees in the following financial years -
(a) 2000/01; and
(b) 2001/02?
(4) How many boats are registered in each of the following categories -
(a) less than 5 metres;
(b) 5 - 9.9 metres;
(c) 10.0 - 19.9 metres; and
(d) 20 metres and over?

(1) (a) $3 712 982.
(b) $4 605 522.
(c) $4 801 302.
(2) Transport has retained the following amounts from the above figures for recreational boating projects, in accordance with a Cabinet decision made in March 1997:
(a) $979 983.
(b) $1 793 522.
(c) $1 908 302.
These monies have been spent on a total of approximately 100 recreational boating projects, which are summarised on the attached page.
The remainder of the recreational boating registration fees go into the Consolidated Revenue Fund.
