I refer the Minister to veterans and ex-Australian
Defence Force (ADF) personnel in the Western Australian Police Force, and ask: (a) for statistical purposes does WA Police record a recruits previous service in the ADF; (b) if yes to the above, how many veterans or ex-ADF personnel are currently serving in WA Police; (c) does WA Police have a recruiting strategy to attract veterans or ex-ADF personnel exiting the military; (d) are the trade qualifications or other nationally accredited qualifications attained whilst in the
ADF taken into consideration during recruitment by WA Police; and (e) how many WA Police Officers are also in the Reserves
of the Australian Defence Force?

The Western Australian Police Force advise:
(a) No
(b) Not applicable
(c) No
(d) All skills and qualifications are acknowledged during the selection process.
(e)The WA Police Force does not specifically record if personnel are members of the ADF Reserves. However, 146 Police Officers took ‘Defence Force Leave’ during the financial year 2017-2018.
