(1) With at least one Local Government body examining the feasibility of using the Pyronex Technology process of turning waste into energy will the Government ban the disposal of vehicle tyres into landfills, so that the use of tyres in this process can be encouraged?
(2) Can the disposal of those hazardous wastes which could otherwise be used for energy production in the process also be banned?
(3) Will the Government assist Local Government bodies with technical and financial advice of the feasibility of replacing landfill disposal with waste to energy plants as proposed by Pyromex Technology?

(2) Similarly, disposal of hazardous wastes would require a technology that is proven to produce no dangerous emissions to humans or to the environment, and has all the required approvals. (3) The Waste Management Recycling Fund, which is available from the money collected via the landfill levy, has been set up to fund projects that divert waste to landfill. A grant is currently funding the Municipal Waste Advisory Council for a project to oversee a funding decision support system for evaluating technologies for processing of waste, including waste to energy.
