(1) The Department of Training and Workforce Development's analysis indicates that the most likely reason for a difference between the graduate employment rates of State Training Providers and private registered training organisations, is due to the fact that State Training Providers are the predominant provider of foundation type courses including numeracy and literacy, to students with low academic achievement.
These courses are less likely to lead directly to an employment outcome.
This is supported by data that which shows that 86.9 per cent of students at private training providers undertook training specifically for an employment related outcome compared to 76.5 per cent of students studying at State Training Providers.
(2)(a) The Department of Training and Workforce Development will continue to focus its training funding priorities on qualifications that that meet the needs of the Western Australian labour market, as identified through the State Priority Occupation List.
(2)(b) See response (2)(a).
