(a) Yes. All road bridges in the metropolitan area are inspected regularly by technical officers. Visual inspections are carried out annually on selected bridges, and two-yearly at all other bridges depending on their condition and design. Detailed inspections are undertaken 5-yearly for timber bridges, and 7-yearly for non-timber bridges.
Any required maintenance identified through the inspections is scheduled and carried out through Main Roads' Routine Maintenance Program or the Specific Maintenance Program.
The Public Transport Authority undertakes a Structural Audit on all of its Railway Bridges every seven years. As part of this visual audit, certain structures are identified for replacement and allowances made within the capital expenditure programme.
(b) The maintenance program is based on both the visual and the detailed inspection reports as required.
Details of the recent action for the road bridges listed above are shown in table below:

The Worley Parsons report, received in January 2007 concluded that the Railway Bridge was in a good structural condition.
