An attendance at the emergency department occurs if the patient is registered in any manner in one of the electronic data collection systems, i.e. includes those cases that have not been completely clerically registered.
A presentation at the emergency department occurs when the patient is fully registered clerically, that is has a UMRN, and has been triaged, indicated by a code of 1,2,3,4 or 5.
Since attendances represent a more complete measure of activity than presentations, they have been provided in this response.
