(1) The discontinuation of obstetric services at Kalamunda hospital was recommended in the WA statewide obstetric services review 2002 and later endorsed by the Health Reform Committee in 2004. Therefore, it was included in the clinical services framework consultation package. A final decision will be made at the end of the clinical services framework consultation period. (2) Yes. Construction commenced in January 2005 and completion is estimated for February 2006. (3) The determination of requirements and timing of the stage 2 development will be clarified following completion of the metropolitan clinical services plan in July 2005.
