MEMBER FOR VASSE — ROAD TRAFFIC INCIDENT —
POLICE INVESTIGATION
106. Mrs M.H. ROBERTS to the
Minister for Police:
I acknowledge on behalf of the member for Fremantle the
students from Christian Brothers' College Fremantle who are in the
gallery today, and welcome them to Parliament House.
I refer to multiple reports of vehicle damage and a report of
erratic driving in Subiaco on the morning of 23 February this year.
(1) What
advice has the minister requested from the Commissioner of Police about reports
that residents who lodged complaints of hit-and-run accidents were told their
complaints would not be followed up despite a report of dangerous driving being
made that night in the same area?
(2) Has the
minister satisfied herself that this is considered standard operating practice?

I thank the member for Midland for the question.
(1)–(2)
As I stated in this place yesterday, an ongoing police investigation into the
matters of 23 February is being undertaken. Police are doing what they are
resourced to do. They are doing what they are trained to do in investigating
these matters.
Mrs M.H. Roberts interjected.
Mrs L.M. HARVEY : I
will leave the police to do their job and step out of this space.
Mrs M.H. Roberts interjected.
The SPEAKER :
Member for Midland, the convention is that you get a supplementary question, so
let the minister answer.
Mrs L.M. HARVEY :
As minister, I think it is appropriate that I let WA Police get on with its
investigation and it will inform us of the outcome of that investigation in due
course.
