Given 2010 commemorates the 20th anniversary of the Western Australia–East Java Sister-State relationship, for each department and agency in the Premier’s portfolio, please detail:
(a) ongoing programmes and individual projects involving Western Australia and East Java;
(b) ongoing programmes and individual projects involving Western Australia and Indonesia;
(c) budgeted costs of these projects and programmes, including non-State funding such as AUSAID, the Indonesian Government, etc; and
(d) any events, programmes or projects being considered to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the relationship.

Government agencies in the Premier's portfolio advise:
Department of the Premier and Cabinet:
(a-d) The member is referred to the Premier's letter of 21 May 2010 which was in response to the member's letter to the Premier drawing attention to the forthcoming 20th anniversary of the Western Australia - East Java Sister-State relationship.
There are a number of cultural events, both in Western Australia and East Java, being planned for later this year. The Department of State Development are currently involved in planning these events.
Public Sector Commissioner:
(a) Nil ongoing programmes and individual projects involving Western Australia and East Java.
(b) Nil ongoing programmes and individual projects involving Western Australia and Indonesia
(c-d) Not applicable
Department of State Development:
(a) Examples of programs and projects supported by the State include:
? agricultural programs such as dairy and livestock;
? student exchanges;
? training and educational programs;
? cultural exchanges; and
? parliamentary visits to Western Australia and reciprocal visits by Western Australian counterparts.
(b) Examples of programs and projects supported by the State include:
? advising on youth sport development programs;
? use of new technology for national fire mitigation through Landgate;
? supporting Western Australian business involved in mining in Indonesia;
? food and wine exports and promotions; and
? trialled consumption of Western Australian lupins in Indonesia.
(c) The on the ground operational budget for the WA Trade and Investment Office in Indonesia for 2009-2010 was $527,000
The Department of State Development has budgeted $30,000 for the 2010 Sister State 20th anniversary program, covering both WA and Indonesia-based initiatives.
Program costs associated with the delivery of export promotion services for Ozmine were: 2009 - $10,247; and 2010 - $9,500.
(d) Working with the East Java Provincial Government, the Department of State Development is developing a 2-3 day program to mark the 20th Anniversary milestone.
The official program planned for the East Java component will incorporate:
? an Official Ceremony/Dinner/Gift Exchange and re-signing of the Sister State Agreement;
? site visits/meetings to WA businesses operating in East Java; and
? a soccer match between a WA State side and an all-star East Java league team, which will build on the successful 2008 "Friendship Cup" in East Java.
The cultural component is still under discussion but is likely to involve a performance in East Java of the Turtle and the Trade Winds.
