I thank the member for some notice of this question. It has given the Minister for Transport the opportunity to provide the following response. Clearing vegetation for the construction of the Dawesville deviation is being kept to the minimum necessary to allow for the construction of the road and associated works. Furthermore, disturbed areas will be revegetated using a combination of topsoil management, direct seeding and planting of tubestock seedlings to enhance the existing road reserve vegetation. Some 200 grass trees within the road reserve will also be relocated from the works area and used in the revegetation works. Those people who take the opportunity to travel along some of those roads that have been the subject of recent upgrading or maintenance and who look at the revegetation and the reseeding work that has been conducted by Main Roads, will note that those areas contain some of the best examples in this State of our native flora. No one need have any doubts at all that the rehabilitation work will be exceptional and will provide good visual aspects for motorists who use that deviation.
