ORD IRRIGATION SCHEME — EXPANSION
638. Hon JON FORD to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Regional Development:
I refer to the ABC Rural
Report of 9 March 2012 in which the minister advised that an announcement
about who has been awarded land in the expanded Ord irrigation scheme would be
announced four months from then.
(1) Given it
is more than four months since that announcement, can the minister advise who
has been awarded land, and, if so, list the recipients and how much land they
have been awarded?
(2) If no to (1), why has there been a delay?
(3) If no to
(1), has the minister received the recommendations from the advisory panel,
and, if so, when did he receive them?
(4) If the minister has received the recommendations, when
will he make the announcement?

I thank the member for some notice of this question.
(1)–(4)
The Ord Ministerial Council met on 28 August 2012 to consider the status of the
request for proposal and expression of interest process. This process has been
led by an advisory panel appointed under the Land Administration Act 1997. The
process is currently completing due diligence on a range of issues, including
the financial capability of proponents, and advice to cabinet is being
considered.
