I refer to Ramsar nominations, and I ask: (a) is the Minister aware that expert consultants to the department in 1999 estimated that there were approximately 40 wetlands in Western Australia that could meet eligibility criteria for listing under the Ramsar Convention; (b) how many Western Australian wetlands are currently Ramsar-listed; (c) is the Minister aware that nominations have been
prepared for at least five additional wetlands, but these have not been
forwarded to the Commonwealth or to the Ramsar Bureau; (d) in reference to (c), why has this not been done; (e) will the Minister commit to making further Ramsar
nominations in this term of government; and (f) if no to (e), why not?
