284. Hon KATE DOUST to the
Minister for Commerce:
I refer to ACIL Allen Consulting's discussion paper
on the ''Review of Plumbing Regulation in Western Australia''.
(1) How many of the recommendations made in the discussion
paper have been accepted?
(2) How many of the recommendations have been implemented?
(3) What is the ultimate time line for all recommendations to
be implemented?
(4) Has the
Building Commission been provided with additional resources to implement the
findings and recommendations?
(5) Will legislative reform be required?
(6) What are the next steps in the process?

I thank the member for some notice
of this question.
(1) Fifty-one recommendations have been
accepted.
(2) One recommendation has been implemented. Of
the other 50 recommendations, 34 will be the subject of a further consultation
paper, two are expected to commence in May 2015, six are expected to commence
in late 2015 and eight are non-regulatory recommendations.
(3) Drafting instructions are to be finalised by
1 July 2016.
(4) Work to date has been undertaken within
the Building Commission's existing budget and resources.
