FIRE STATION —
SOUTH EAST METROPOLITAN AREA
28. Hon Dr BRAD PETTITT to the Minister for Emergency Services:
I refer to the government's
election commitment to build a new fire station in the south east metropolitan
area.
(1) In relation to construction —
(a) has a site been selected; and if
so, where is it; and
(b) when will the construction
commence; and
(c) when will the construction be
completed?
(2) Noting the
effects of climate change and that the fire station is to be built in a bushfire-prone
area, will the station house a light tanker, urban pump and urban tanker with
at least 28 firefighters to crew these appliances around the clock 24/7, 365
days a year?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) (a)–(c)
A full site selection report and business case is being prepared. Once the
business case has been approved and a site selected, construction will begin.
(2) Appropriate firefighting
appliances and resources will be allocated to the new station.
