ROYAL
AUTOMOBILE CLUB — RISKY ROADS REPORT
938. Mr M. McGOWAN to the
Minister for Transport:
I have a supplementary question.
Mr
J. Norberger interjected.
The SPEAKER :
Member for Joondalup, wait your turn. I call you to order for the first time.
Mr M. McGOWAN : I
refer to the question I actually asked, and in particular to work on the Reid
Highway and Malaga Drive grade separations and work on Great Eastern Highway
that the government promised to undertake in the 2013–14 financial
year. Will the minister reinstate that funding, and when will those projects be
underway?

With regard to Reid Highway, which includes the Malaga Drive
intersection and goes through to Erindale and Duffy Roads, the project is
coming in under budget and I intend to dual that road all the way to Marmion Avenue.
Ms R. Saffioti :
That is not the question; it is Reid and Malaga.
Mr D.C. NALDER :
The Reid Highway and Malaga Drive intersection is a part of that—anyway
it is grade separation. That is not the only thing we are doing in the north;
we have other commitments such as continuing the Mitchell Freeway to Hester
Avenue. We are about to commence doing that as well. We are widening Gnangara
Road, but we were held up because we needed to excise land from pine
plantations considered to be part of state forest. Those things have provided
challenges for this government, but we are delivering and we are continuing to
deliver for the state of Western Australia.
