QuestionView source ↗
(1) Will the day-to-day operations of the Environmental Enforcement Unit be determined by policy direction determined by the Minister or Government of the day or by a set of guidelines determined by the Department of Environmental Protection’s chief executive officer and senior staff and made available for public consideration?
(2) Is it expected that the Unit will focus on the relatively small number of larger industrial operators or on the much bigger number of small to medium sized industrial operations?
(3) What will be the future of industry self-regulation once the Unit commences operation?
(4) Is the Minister prepared to make a public statement confirming that no single industry nor any particular size of industrial operation will be preferentially targeted by the Unit but that the Unit’s brief will be to enforce all environmental laws and approval and other conditions throughout the entire State?
