KIMBERLEY FLOODS — RECOVERY
787. Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the Minister for Emergency
Services:
I refer to funding provided under
the disaster recovery funding arrangements for the Kimberley floods recovery
outlined during budget estimates.
(1) Why is the
primary producer recovery grant valued at $75 000, when primary producers
impacted by cyclone Seroja in April 2021 were eligible for only $25 000?
(2) Why are the
small and medium business recovery grants valued at $50 000 and $75 000
respectively, when small businesses impacted by cyclone Seroja in April 2021
were eligible for only $25 000 and no recovery grants were made available for
medium-sized businesses?
(3) Why are the
home owners recovery and resiliency grants valued at up to $50 000, when home
owners impacted by cyclone Seroja in April 2021 were eligible for a maximum of
only $20 000?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) The base value of the primary producer grant was
revised to $37 500, with a recommendation that a regional loading be
applied for all future grants. In the Kimberley, the value of this loading is
100 per cent.
(2) The base
value of the small business grant was revised to $25 000, with a recommendation
that a regional loading be applied for future grants. In the Kimberley, the
value of this loading is 100 per cent. A medium business grant was introduced
under the revised funding model, with consideration of impacts on community-run
businesses with workforces in excess of 20 people and the importance of
restoring the function of these businesses.
(3) The base
value of the home owners recovery and resilience grants was revised to $25 000,
with the recommendation that a regional loading be applied for future grants.
In the Kimberley, the value of this loading is 100 per cent.
