With regard to the Albany Wind Farm -
(1) Was a contract let to Powercorp of Queensland to construct the wind power generators at Albany?
(2) When was the contract let?
(3) What was the tender price?
(4) What conditions relating to local employment does the contract contain?
(5) How many jobs is it estimated will be created during the construction stage of the project?
(6) How many of those jobs are expected to be awarded to local people?
(7) How many of those jobs are expected to be awarded to interstate and overseas employees?

The Minister Replied:
1. Powercorp of Darwin and Enercon of Germany will be responsible for building the Albany wind farm.
2. Final Ministerial Approval to enter into a contract was given on 22 June 2000.
3. The total project cost, including supply and installation of wind turbines, civil engineering work, electrical cabling and control equipment, is estimated at $45 million.
4. Contract specifies that local contractors are to be used wherever possible (eg civil engineering, electrical installation and erection crews).
5. About 80 statewide (estimate).
6. About 40 (estimate) directly in Albany plus four ongoing maintenance positions.
7. About 20 (estimate).
