825. Ms M. BEARD to the Attorney General:
I have a supplementary question.
Does the Attorney General accept that three years is an unacceptable delay in
implementing the requirement, given the risks to these young people,
particularly vulnerable children?

With the different cohorts there
had to be training of the teachers, supervisors and everyone as to the
requirements. The opposition in Western Australia
supported the phased introduction of these mandatory requirements—the
party the member for North West Central
is now a member of, and also the party she was a member of yesterday, supported the phased introduction—and that is what we are doing. We will be
introducing legislation that will require the mandatory reporting of all child
sexual offences across all sectors.
