(1) Given that the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences (ABARES) regularly publishes the annual volume of hardwood native forest sawlogs and native forest sawn timber produced in Western Australia, will the Minister please provide a list of each type of information that sawmills with contracts of sale with the Forest Products Commission (FPC) are required or invited to provide to the FPC? (2) Further to question on notice No. 1518 of 2014 and tabled paper No. 2270, can the Minister explain why are there no contracts of sale for first and second grade jarrah sawlogs when the Forest Management Plan 2014-2023 sets an annual allowable cut of 132,000 cubic metres of first and second grade jarrah sawlogs?

(1) One native forest customer is required to submit a six monthly record of all log timber, timber products and value added timber products in their possession. All other native forest contracts awarded under the Forest Management Plan 2014 to 2023 (FMP) require the customer to prepare a monthly intake and log stock summary. This is available by request from the Forest Products Commission (FPC).
(2) The available log volume in the FMP is calculated using first and second grade sawlog specifications.
However, in response to the changing log qualities the industry has moved on from those grades, and now accept logs with a portion of non-sawlog material in their logs. These are graded differently. The predominant grades used are general purpose sawlogs (small and large), and bole sawlogs (small and large).
