I refer to the long-promised, but never delivered, establishment of a State Judicial Commission, and I ask: (a) is the Attorney General aware that former Labor Premier, Hon Mark McGowan promised a judicial commission back in 2013; (b) is the Attorney General aware that former Labor Attorney General, Hon John Quigley promised a Judicial Commission in 2022, and again stated that a bill to establish a commission was in the process of being drafted in July 2024; (c) is the Attorney General aware that in December 2024, Premier Hon Roger Cook vowed that the establishment of a Judicial Commission would be a priority if he was re-elected; (d) has the Attorney General given instructions for the priority drafting of a bill establishing a Judicial Commission; (e) in reference to (d), what date were those instructions given; and (f) which stakeholders will be consulted prior to the bill being introduced?

(a)-(c)   Establishing and enshrining a Judicial Commission in legislation in Western Australia is a priority of this Government.
(d)-(e)   Matters regarding the Government’s legislative reform priorities and timeframes are decisions of Cabinet and are Cabinet-in-Confidence.
(f)         Decisions regarding further consultation with the judiciary and other stakeholders ahead of the  Bill being introduced will be made in due course.
