I have a supplementary question.
Premier, by —
Mr N.W. Morton interjected .
The SPEAKER : Member for
Forrestfield, I call you to order for the first time. You are another one who
feels obliged to shout out.
Mr
D.A. Templeman interjected.
The SPEAKER : Member for Mandurah!
Mr M. McGOWAN : By
sacking up to 562 education staff, is the Premier not directly breaking the
promise he made to the public sector workforce in 2013 that up to 100 or 200
staff would be removed?

AnswerView source ↗

No; I am not.
Mr M. McGowan :
Yes; you are breaking a promise.
Mr C.J. BARNETT : ''Oh,
yes, you are!'' The policy of teacher assistants was made very clear.
Mr M. McGowan interjected.
The SPEAKER : Leader of the Opposition, I call you to
order for the first time. You cannot ask a supplementary and then not allow the
Premier to answer it. Answer through the Chair, please.
Mr C.J. BARNETT :
My reference to maybe up to 100 people, or whatever the particular quote was,
related to the general public service and all the questions the Leader of the
Opposition was asking at the time related to public services in agencies. He
was not asking about teacher assistants, which we had been absolutely clear
about.
Mr D.J. Kelly interjected.
The SPEAKER : Member for Bassendean, I call you to
order for the first time.
Mr C.J. BARNETT :
Members will find that across public service positions in general government
administrative arrangements, the number going will be quite modest—probably
fewer than 100.
