I refer to the Minister for Transport's media
statement of 7 June 2015 in relation to the proposed stadium footbridge.
(1) What is
the estimated value of materials for the bridge that will be procured from
Western Australia?
(2) Will the fabrication of the elements of the bridge occur
in Western Australia?
(3) If no to
(2), where will the elements be fabricated, and what is the estimated value of
the elements that will have to be shipped into Western Australia?
(4) Will the
bridge be constructed totally in Western Australia by Western Australian
workers or will specialist workers or engineers need to be brought in from
either Italy or interstate?
(5) Of the
estimated $54.12 million cost of this bridge, what is the estimated cost of the
labour component?

(1) The
estimated cost of materials for the bridge is $25 million. The value of the
material that will be procured from Western Australia is not yet known, as
subcontractors have not yet been finalised by the contractor.
(2) As the
fabrication contracts are yet to be finalised, the location at which this work
will be undertaken is not yet confirmed.
(3) Local
suppliers will be given the opportunity to tender for the work. The value will
be known once this has been determined.
(4) The
construction workforce will be from Western Australia. Specialist engineers and
other professional workers will be from Western Australia, interstate and
overseas.
(5) The
on-site labour component will be in the order of $5 million; however, this will
not be confirmed until subcontractors are finalised by the contractor.
