Hon Dr Brian Walker inquired about the number of prosecutions for alleged impairment on WA roads since the ministerial working group's recommendations on THC driving laws, specifically asking how many involved cannabis and resulted in licence loss. The Police Minister's representative stated that data for questions 1 and 2 required manual interrogation and would be provided later, while question 3 on court outcomes should be directed to the Attorney General.

THC driving laws—Prosecutions
487. Hon Dr Brian Walker to the minister representing
the Minister for Police:
I refer the minister
to a media statement of last week in relation to THC driving reform in Western
Australia.
(1) In how many cases have WA police
commenced prosecution of an individual for alleged impairment on our roads
since the government received the recommendations of the ministerial working
group on THC driving laws at the close of last year?
(2) How many of those involved cannabis,
medicinal or otherwise?
(3) As a result of those cannabis-related
cases, how many Western Australians have lost their licences over that six-month
period?

I thank the member
for some notice of the question. The following has been provided to me by the
Minister for Police.
(1)–(2) Due to the requirement for significant
manual data interrogation, the Western Australia Police Force is unable to
provide a response in the required timeframe. A response will be provided by
Wednesday 17 June 2026.
(3) Questions seeking data relating to court
outcomes should be directed to the Attorney General.
