ELECTRICITY — DECARBONISATION
1401. Hon NEIL THOMSON to the parliamentary secretary representing the
Minister for Climate Action:
I refer to the claim on page 66 of
budget paper No 3 that since 2017, the government has allocated more than $5.4 billion
for decarbonisation efforts.
(1) How much of
the $5.4 billion has been spent or contracted to be spent already, and can the
minister please list all initiatives with their costs and completion dates?
(2) Has the
government assessed the average cost of carbon per tonne mitigated through the
investment thus far; and, if yes, what is that cost?
(3) If no to (2),
has the government undertaken any cost–benefit analysis, including of
the cost per tonne of carbon mitigated, for any of the initiatives; and, if
yes, what was the average cost per tonne of carbon?
