I refer to the Minister’s claims that ‘there are more than 40 000 lots across Perth with conditional approval’, and ask -
(1) Will the Minister provide a map of the metropolitan area detailing locations of these 40 000 plus residential lots?
(2) At what stage is the building approval process for these lots?
(3) What avenues is the Government pursuing to fast-track land on to the market?

2. Building approval has not been granted for these lots. The conditional approval relates to subdivision approval not building approval. 3. The Government convened a Land Summit in June 2006 which provided an excellent forum for State and local government, and the land and housing industry to examine the critical factors behind the current land supply shortage and measures to address this issue. These include measures to assist developers to bring conditional approvals to final approval more quickly, reduction of land speculation and rationalisation of approval processes. As an outcome of the Summit, the Government has endorsed a target for Perth and Peel of 20,000 new residential lots for 2006/07. Following the Summit the Government established the Interagency Land Supply Forum. The Forum has met on four occasions. The Government has further allocated $1.3million in 2006/07 to fund land supply coordinators for Perth/Peel and the South West to expedite conditionally approved lots to final approval, and for the recruitment of senior planners and administrative support to the Statutory Planning Division of the Department for Planning and Infrastructure to fast track statutory approvals to ensure future land supply.
