I refer to the Hillarys Marina. (1) E jetty is currently unusable. Does the Government intend to replace or repair this jetty? (2) If yes, when will this work be completed; if no, why not? (3) The general state of other floating jetties suggests considerable maintenance is required. (a) What work is expected to be completed in 2003-04? (b) Will the unsuitable rollers that are used on the jetty pylons and are causing considerable damage be replaced with more suitable rollers; if yes, when? If not, why not? Hon KEN TRAVERS

I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1) Yes. (2) Minimal maintenance is being carried out on this jetty as it is due for replacement in 2004. (3) (a) The jetties are in fair condition for their age, and the level of maintenance reflects the replacement program for the structures. Details for 2003-04 are being obtained from the maintenance contractors and will be provided once they are available. (b) Various roller types have been used and trialled on the floating pen units. The rollers that are damaging the jetty piles are replaced when they are identified.
