I refer the minister to the Commercial Tenancy (Retail Shops)
Agreements Amendment Act 2011 and his department's website, which
states that the amendments will come into effect in early 2013.
(1) Why has the government taken so
long to bring this act into effect?
(2) In which month in 2013 will the act come into effect?
(3) Will the
minister guarantee that his government's budget saving measures will
not further delay the protections provided in the amendment act?

Commercial Tenancy (Retail Shops) Agreements Amendment Act 2011 is a
significant piece of the Liberal–National Government's
legislative agenda and commitment to small businesses. The regulations
underpinning the act have required careful and complex drafting to ensure they
deliver the protections as intended. I am pleased to announce to the house that
the bill will be enacted on 1 January 2013.
