minister support an educational campaign via conventional and social media to
improve attitudes for sharing the road?
(2) Would the minister investigate the safety benefits of
cyclists wearing high-visibility vests?
(3) How much of current budget spending is allocated to road
user–sharing education?
(4) In relation to (3), please describe the specific programs

September 2014, the Office of Road Safety and the Department of Transport
commenced the Share Our Roads campaign to further improve safety for cyclists
by developing positive attitudes towards sharing the roads.
(2) The Department of Transport and the Office of Road Safety
encourage cyclists to be highly visible.
(3) The amount of $375 000 is allocated to road user–sharing
education.
(4) The
components of the Share Our Roads campaign are mass media placement, radio,
outdoor bus shelters, bus backs and fact sheets; extensive on-path signage for
principal shared paths with user-sharing education messages; and digital—that
is, website—audiovisual material and downloadable Share Our Roads
campaign material fact sheets.
