When there is a direct need for water resource estimates, such as for a water licence or information on river water quality or river level, this information is updated and provided when needed. For specific ground water areas or rivers, the water resource estimates are continually updated. An overall assessment of the state’s water resources is being undertaken as part of the state water plan. The state water plan provides a very important framework that will facilitate and guide the state’s water planning well into the future. Typically, estimates at a state level are updated on a five to 10-year time frame.
