parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to the St John of God
Bunbury coronary care unit.
(1) When will
the unit open to the public for the full range of services intended to be
provided at the unit?
(2) Will the unit treat public and private patients?
(3) Why are
patients without private health cover being told that they need to travel to
Perth for treatment, as the unit treats private health patients only?
(4) What steps will the minister
take to ensure the unit treats public patients?

(1) The south
west WA Country Health Service is working with St John of God Bunbury Hospital
to develop specifications and an agreement for the purchase of coronary care
services for public patients.
(2) Yes.
(3) Public
patients cannot be admitted to the service until a contractual agreement for
the purchase of public coronary care services with SJOGBH is in place.
(4) Development
of a contractual agreement for the provision of services is underway and is
expected to be completed in September 2013.
