Further to my question on Tuesday, December 9 enquiring as to whether LandCorp commissioned Ron Parker to carry out an Ethnographic Survery of existing and potential sites for temporary and permanent accommodation and industrial use in and near the Karratha townsite would the Minister please advise the following -
(1) In whose estimation will it take Mr Parker five days to compile his report given that the work in question is unlikely to run to more than ten pages?
(2) After receiving Ron Parker’s initial quote/cost estimate for the Ethnographic Survey did LandCorp seek any other tenders?
(3) In the last eighteen months has the South Hedland office of Main Roads, or an agent acting on their behalf, commission Ron Parker to carry out an Ethnographic Survey for proposed work areas alongside the Karratha-Dampier Highway with the Yabururra Aboriginal Group?
(4) If so, what was the total time taken and cost of that survey?
(5) In 1999 did the then Department of Resources Development commission Mr Ron Parker to carry out an Ethnographic Survey of the proposed E-W Services Corridor on the Burrup Peninsular?
(6) If so, what was the total time taken and cost of this survey?

2) At the time of receiving Ron Parker’s quote/estimate, LandCorp had a quote/estimate from Rory O’Connor and Gary Quartermaine. LandCorp did not seek any other tenders as it was aware the claimant groups would not deal with consultants other than Ron Parker and Rory O’Connor/Gary Quartermaine. 3) Yes. 4) The total cost of the survey was $8 500. The exact time taken to undertake the survey is not known. 5)&6) Yes. The Minister for State Development has advised that the commission also included the preparation of an S18 report for submission to the Aboriginal Cultural Materials Committee, seeking consent to disturb sites in the E-W services corridor. Total time taken was twenty six man days (including twelve man days for Aboriginal consultants) for a total cost of $13,920
