I
thank the member for some notice of the question. The following answer was
provided by the Minister for Local Government.
(1)–(2) It is proposed that the appointment of monitors
will be on a case-by-case basis, responding to needs at any particular time.
The intended purpose of a monitor is to assist a local government to resolve
potential issues at an early stage. It is also proposed that local governments
will be able to request the appointment of a monitor.
