COCAINE KITS - INVESTIGATION BY CONSUMER PRODUCTS SAFETY COMMITTEE
I refer to the answer given to question without notice 453 on 15 June 2006. (1) Has the Consumer Products Safety Committee made a recommendation to the Commissioner for Fair Trading on the sale of cocaine kits? (2) If yes to (1), what was the recommendation? I thank the honourable member for some notice of this question. (1)-(3) The matter of whether the supply of cocaine kits should, by reason of the goods being dangerous, be prohibited or allowed only subject to certain restrictions was referred to the Consumer Products Safety Committee at meetings held on 5 April 2006 and 12 July 2006. The committee recommended to the Commissioner for Fair Trading that consumer product safety regulation not be used as the vehicle to prohibit or restrict the sale or supply of cocaine kits.
