REGIONAL AND REMOTE COMMUNITIES — REFORM
PROCESS
247. Hon ROBIN CHAPPLE to the Minister
for Child Protection:
I refer to the regional services reform unit set up by Grahame Searle to
undertake consultation as part of the regional reform process looking at the
provision of services to remote communities in Western Australia.
(1) Will the minister please provide a list of all members of the
regional services reform unit?
(2) Have members of the regional services reform unit visited any remote
communities?
(3) If yes to (2), will the minister please
table a list of all communities visited, on what date they were visited and for
what purpose each visit was undertaken?
(4) If no to (1), (2) or (3), why not?
(5) Has either Mr Searle or the regional
services reform unit provided a draft reform document to the government?
(6) If yes to (5), will the minister please table a copy of this
document?
(7) If no to (6), why not?

I thank the member for some notice of the question.
(1) The reform unit senior management team
comprises: Grahame Searle, state reform leader; Duncan Mackay, executive
director; Paul Isaachsen, executive director; Katalin Kraszlan, director;
Tracey Gillett, director; and Chad Stewart, director. There are also 16
full-time equivalent public service officers.
(2) Yes. This was the question about members
of the regional services reform unit who visited any remote communities. There
have been so many, in fact, that they actually cannot provide all that
information to the member in terms of a list of all communities visited, what
date and for what purpose et cetera. I will provide that for the member
tomorrow.
(3) The information requested cannot be
provided in the time available. I will provide a response on Thursday, 24 March
2016.
(4) Not applicable.
(5)–(7) A draft document is
presently being finalised for consideration by cabinet. It is anticipated that
it will be released for public consultation in mid-2016.
