OPEN-RANGE ZOO PROPOSAL
1286. Hon SAMANTHA ROWE to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to the government's
recent announcement concerning the preferred location for an open-range zoo.
(1) What
considerations were given to flying operations at RAAF Base Pearce with regard
to the location of the zoo?
(2) Has RAAF Base
Pearce, the Department of Defence or any other federal entity been notified
about the location?
(3) If yes to (2)

(a) which entity or entities were
notified;
(b) on what date was each entity
notified; and
(c) were any
concerns raised with the location by any entity; and, if so, what was the
nature of those concerns?
(4) Can the
minister confirm that noise abatement/noise sensitive procedures are followed
by Perth air traffic control concerning the South Perth Zoo?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(3) The
questions should be asked of the minister responsible, Hon Albert Jacob, MLA,
Minister for Environment.
(4) Airservices
Australia is the primary agency responsible for aircraft noise on air routes
across the country. As such, the question is best asked of the commonwealth
Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Hon Darren Chester, MP.
