(1-6) The Western Australia Government does not manage or own the Hyundai Hopman Cup. Therefore the answers to the Member's questions seeking commercial details of the private boxes purchased should be directed to Hopman Cup Pty Ltd. Under its sponsorship contract with the Hopman Cup, the Western Australian Tourism Commission, through its events division EventsCorp, receives a corporate box as one of the sponsorship benefits. This opportunity is used by Government for business development and relationship marketing purposes. A number of Government Ministers hosted the box this year and invited some guests who were directly related to their portfolio and could generate business development objectives for the WA Government. The remainder of the guests related to the State Development and tourism portfolios. The 2002 Hopman Cup is the final year of the WATC's contract with the event organisers. The Government contributes $270,000 to the event and receives a profit share as part of its agreement. Since that information is not yet available, it is not possible to give a net figure of Government support at this stage.
