POLICE — DISCRETION — PROSECUTION OF
POLICE
1425. Hon Dr BRIAN WALKER to the minister representing the
Minister for Police:
I am grateful to the minister for
the figures he provided to me earlier this week in response to question without
notice 1361 regarding the number of instances in which the Western Australia
Police Force used its discretion to not prosecute an officer accused of misconduct
in each of the last three financial years.
Is the minister able to put those
numbers into context for me by sharing the number of complaints of misconduct
that were referred back to WAPOL by the Corruption and Crime Commission for
investigation in each of those time periods, the number of cases that were not
proceeded with and the number of formal prosecutions?
