I refer to the proposal from the native title task force concerning exploration licences. (1) Does the minister support the proposal to give exploration licences a longer, even indefinite life, and to repeal the need to surrender 50 per cent of the licence after years 3 and 4? (2) If so, how does he reconcile this position with the need to ensure that land, the subject of the exploration licence, is not tied up for potentially an indefinite period? Hon KEN TRAVERS
