(a) As at April 28, 2008 the Cleaners and Gardeners recruitment campaign's Hotline has received a total of 572 calls
(i) 352 expressed an interest in a cleaning position
(ii) 131 expressed an interest in a gardening position.
89 expressed an interest in working either as a cleaner or gardener.
(b) Expressions of interest are passed on to schools and district offices to select suitable appointees. It is not necessary to keep a central record on successful appointments.
(c) $42,380.93 expended in 2007/08.
(d) It was a joint initiative between DET and LHMU to engage suitable migrant workers as school cleaners and gardeners. The initiative commenced in May and its length of operation will depend on the success of the program.
